We were in Chariton yesterday running an errand and decided on this place for lunch. Great food!! Loved the onion rings, breaded tenderloin, fries, and sauces. Food was piping hot and fresh. The only negative about the food is they could have let the oil drain from the tenderloin a bit more, but that did not diminish how good it was really. The service was awesome, I cannot remember the servers name, but she was pleasant and attentive to our needs. Great job!!!

We had an outstanding meal at the Iron Horse Charitone on 4/15/22 - everything was delicious, our server was pleasant, efficient & kept our drinks filled - the onion rings & shrimp batter was super delicious & the Bread pudding was perfect - good cocktails too! We plan on returning soon!

We stopped on the 4th of July while out riding motorcycles. The town had its 4th celebration going on. So it was very busy. They were able to sit us (8) in a timely manner. Due to being busy, the service was a little slow. The food was great.

Feels like an older hotel situated in the heart of downtown Chariton, Ia. Seated quickly and our server Payton was right on cue getting drink orders. I had the bacon mac and cheese with chicken added and she had the Carolina burger. Everything came out quickly and cooked very well. Mac n cheese sauce was very creamy and chix was nice and tender. Wife's burger was very well presented. I must say they did a great job in the kitchen. Food was extremely delicious and plentiful. Payton was an awesome server taking our order, checking back, and closing our bill. I would love to come back and try a different dish.

We were fishing for the day at nearby Lake Ellis. Looking for dinner when we got done. Didn't know what to expect but we were absolutely blown away. Service, food and atmosphere were absolutely top notch! And it wasn't overly expensive like places in Des Moines. We'll definitely be back.

I had the whiskey bourbon sirloin and it was excellent. Nice serving size and the side dishes were great. My wife had the salmon and it was light in flavorful. The corn chowder soup was outstanding!
